Olympique Lyonnais have secured the services of Cameroon left-back Henri Bedimo from Ligue 1 rivals Montpellier Hérault SC for a fee in the region of €2m.
Bedimo, capped 27 times by his country, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract and becomes OL's third summer signing following the arrivals of Sporting Clube de Portugal right-back Miguel Lopes and Valenciennes FC winger Gaël Danic. "I want to compete in the Champions League and I am desperate to write a new chapter in the club's history," he said.
The 29-year-old was an integral member of Montpellier's 2011/12 title-winning side and made 68 league appearances for the club after joining from RC Lens in 2011. The defender, who started his career in France with Toulouse FC, has also represented Le Harve AC and LB Châteauroux.
Lyon are well-placed to progress from the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round after Milan Biševac's header gave them a 1-0 first-leg victory against Grasshopper Club on Wednesday. The teams reconvene in Switzerland for the decider on 6 August.
