FC Porto have reached an agreement with Mexico's Club Jaguares de Chiapas to sign Colombia forward Jackson Martínez for €8.8m.
The 25-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the Dragons, subject to a medical, and has had his release clause set at €40m. "It's a huge blessing, I want to succeed here," said Martínez, who sought the advice of international team-mate and former Porto striker Falcao before committing to the UEFA Champions League contenders. "He had good recommendations about the city and the team."
The former CD Independiente Medellín player, who has registered five times in 16 outings for Colombia, scored an impressive 28 goals in 58 league appearances during his two-and-a-half year spell with Chiapas.
Elsewhere, Porto dominated the Liga Portuguesa de Futebol Profissional (LPFP) awards, with Hulk (best player), James Rodríguez (breakthrough player) and Vítor Pereira (best coach) all being honoured.
