SL Benfica have stepped up their preparations for the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round with the acquisition of five-times Argentinian international winger Enzo Pérez.
Pérez joins the 2010/11 Portuguese Liga runners-up from Club Estudiantes de La Plata to take his first taste of football outside his homeland. No further fee or contract details have been revealed.
"I'm at great European club," said the 25-year-old, who will link up in Lisbon with compatriots Javier Saviola, Pablo Aimar, Franco Jara and Nicolás Gaitán. "I want to do my best and become part of the club's history. It's my first experience outside my country. Benfica have many Argentinian players and I know most of them personally, so I hope to adapt fast."
Pérez will meet his new team-mates at their pre-season training camp in Nyon, adjacent to UEFA headquarters.
