Madrid pair sidelined for Ajax encounter

Gonzalo Higuaín and Sami Khedira will miss Real Madrid CF's UEFA Champions League trip to AFC Ajax on Tuesday after sustaining injuries during Saturday's 5-1 defeat of Athletic Club.

Real Madrid CF will be without Gonzalo Higuaín and Sami Khedira for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League encounter away to AFC Ajax after both suffered injuries at the weekend.

Ever-present in their team's Group G campaign, neither managed to finish the 5-1 Liga victory against Athletic Club on Saturday, with subsequent tests revealing that Higuaín sustained a back injury while Khedira strained a hamstring. Already assured of a place in the last 16, José Mourinho's side will look to secure top spot in their section by gaining a point at the Amsterdam ArenA.
