AS Roma midfielder Matteo Brighi has signed a two-year contract extension ahead of their UEFA Champions League kick-off.
The 29-year-old is now tied to the Giallorossi until 2014, taking him up to his tenth season with the club. He joined Roma in 2004 from Juventus – having also played for local club Rimini Calcio FC, Bologna FC, Brescia Calcio and Parma FC – though he had a three-year loan at AC Chievo Verona before making his bow for the capital club.
A 2004 UEFA European Under-21 Championship winner with Italy, Brighi has been capped four times at senior level. Roma begin their UEFA Champions League Group E campaign against FC Bayern München on 15 September with CFR 1907 Cluj and FC Basel 1893 also in their section.
