Article body
Following AC Sparta Praha's 1-0 victory over FC Porto in the UEFA Champions League this week, club president Vlastimil Koštál has confirmed the signings of four new players.
Cízek signs
The 23-year-old striker Tomás Cízek joins Sparta from FK Jablonec 97 for €353,437, while midfield player Pavel Mares, also 23, joins for €240,979 from city rivals CU Bohemians Praha.
No sales
The other players are forwards Vladimír Malár, 25, and Lubomír Blaha, 23, who have been signed from 1. FC Synot for a combined fee of €337,362. Koštál has also revealed that none of the present squad will be sold to balance the books during the Winter break.
Disappointing news
This will be disappointing news for Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven who were reportedly interested in signing 27-year-old defender Vladimír Labant. Also FC Girondins de Bordeaux and Piacenza FC, who were chasing young goalkeeper Petr Cech, recently voted Czech keeper of the year, and 21-year-old defender Zdenek Grygera, will have to wait.
