Ukrainian champions FC Shakhtar Donetsk have signed FK Crvena Zvezda captain Nenad Lalatovic.
Joining Jovanovic
The 25-year-old Yugoslavian international has moved after extensive negotiations between the two clubs. At Shakhtar, Lalatovic will link up with compatriot Milan Jovanovic, who signed earlier this week.
Time to deliver
"Shakhtar are set to face major challenges at home and in Europe, and Lalatovic will add to our strength", said Shakhtar coach Valeri Yaremchenko. "Along with our previous signing, Bulgarian international Predrag Pazin, we have top defenders now - the fans have a right to expect us to deliver.”
Three-year contract
Lalatovic, who arrives for an undisclosed fee, has signed a three-year deal and will meet his new team-mates in Crimea on Monday. Before joining Crvena Zvezda in 1999, he played for FK Radnicki Kragujevac and FK Milicionar. In Belgrade, the defender won two league titles and two cups, and has been capped once by the Yugoslavia national team.
