The UEFA Appeals Body has upheld a one-point deduction imposed on the Croatian Football Federation (HNS) and ordered that the national team play its next two home matches in UEFA competition behind closed doors.
The Appeals Body met yesterday, following an appeal lodged by the HNS against the decision taken by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) on 23 July in relation to the racist behaviour that occurred during the UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying Group H match between Croatia and Italy in Split on 12 June.
The appeal by the HNS was rejected, and the original decision of the CEDB has been upheld. The HNS has also been ordered to play its next two home games in UEFA competition behind closed doors, and ordered not to play any of its remaining qualifiers at the Stadion Poljud in Split. In addition, the HNS has been fined €100,000. This decision is final.
The deduction means Croatia are now two points adrift of Norway in Group H.
