Ignacio Quereda, Spain coach
We are happy because we've achieved the first goal that we set ourselves: to be in the quarter-finals. Now let's see how far we can get.
The key to the game was all the chances we were unable to finish, especially in the first 40 minutes, when we had complete and utter domination of the opposition. We didn't take our chances and we were put under pressure in the last few minutes of the game.
It's important to have finished second in the group and have an extra day to recover both physically and mentally. Playing Norway will be very complicated, but we are now among the eight best teams in Europe. I've always said that the Nordic countries, Germany and France are always a step above, but we will fight to compete. We know Norway from before and we will study their system to give them a competitive match.
Sergei Lavrentyev, Russia coach
We played according to our initial game plan. We had our opportunities as we'd hoped but we just couldn't take them. The team did well in the end.
It's hard to say why we were so bad at the start. We gave them too much space in the midfield and Spain can play very well with the ball. However, after we used another defensive midfielder we started to play more efficiently and finally evened the game. This was a game in which both teams had chances to win.
