Paul Philipp will serve a fifth term of office as president of the Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) after his re-election on Saturday.
Philipp was elected by acclamation at the FLF’s 100th general assembly in Dommeldange, and will be at the helm of the association for a further four years. He was first elected as president in 2004.
Initially a player for FC Avenir Beggen, Philipp spent much of his playing career in Belgium with R. Union Saint-Gilloise, R. Standard de Liège and R. Charleroi SC; he hung up his boots in 1985 after winning a second national title with Avenir Beggen.
He made 54 appearances for the Luxembourg national team from 1968 to 1982, scoring four goals. Following his retirement as a player, he coached the Grand Duchy’s national team for 16 years, from 1985 to 2001.
The Luxembourg Football Federation places primary importance on football development, and is committed to nurturing talented players for the future. The results of this long-term work are coming to fruition, with F91 Dudelange qualifying for this season’s UEFA Europa League group stage - the first club from Luxembourg to reach this stage in a European club competition.
In addition, the national team currently top their group in League D of the UEFA Nations League, having won three of their four games so far.
